Art at Work
in Senior Care

Resilia brings artistic practice and gerontology together to put art to work in senior care. We create guided activities, original projects, and programs that help families and care teams engage older adults, support cognitive and emotional resilience, and make everyday caregiving and activity planning easier.

Artists by Practice.
Gerontologists by Perspective.

Resilia brings artistic practice and an understanding of aging together to create experiences that engage the whole person—their abilities, interests, relationships, and sense of self.

Our work includes looking at art, making art, experiencing music, sharing stories, and discovering new ways to express ourselves. We design these experiences to invite participation, exercise cognitive functions, and create opportunities for personal and shared meaning.

We also understand the work behind meaningful engagement. Families need practical support. Care teams need resources they can use with confidence. Resilia provides the ideas, structure, and guidance to make creative experiences easier to bring into everyday living.

What if aging didn’t mean decline—
rather a different kind of creative growth?

Resilia began with one question inspired by Ellie’s grandmother, Ruth:

What if aging didn’t mean decline — rather a different kind of creative growth?

Ruth’s life and later years revealed something essential: even as memory changes, the need for expression, purpose, and recognition does not disappear.

That insight became the foundation for Resilia—bringing together lived experience, gerontology, and creative practice to build a new model for aging and engagement.

More Than Activities.
A Purpose of Resilience.

Resilia activities do more than fill time. They help people adapt, connect, communicate, and strengthen cognitive and emotional resilience at any age.

Resilia creates meaningful experiences that bring together gerontology, the creative arts, and person-centered care. Our evidence-informed approach helps families and senior care communities support cognitive and emotional resilience through art activities that invite curiosity, problem-solving, expression, and connection.

Every experience begins with respect for the individual—their interests, abilities, and choices. Through looking, listening, talking, moving, and making, we offer people ways to exercise cognitive functions, express themselves, and contribute. From a shared moment at home to a recurring group program, our guided activities and original projects create opportunities to build confidence, deepen relationships, and find personal and shared meaning.

Meet Ellie

Resilia was founded in 2021 by artist and social gerontologist Ellie Rose Schoessling, whose vision is to unlock the creative potential of organizations and transform how we approach aging and senior care.

Blending science with art, Ellie inspires others to reimagine aging through creativity, showing how the arts can enhance brain health, emotional well-being, and resilience.

With over 17 years of experience in the U.S. and Mexico, she has led and operated adult day centers, memory clinics, home health agencies, and a nurse training school. Ellie’s work continues to redefine gerontology and creative aging—bringing hope, innovation, and vibrancy to care communities big and small.
